Whether you had a great 2013, or if it’s a year you can’t wait to see end, you still have a few days to make a difference to a soldier deployed overseas with a Care Package. We have several hundred soldiers we weren’t able to send packages to as we ran out of items to package as well as the cash to ship them. Please consider making a donation as we close out the tax year. Checks may be mailed to us at:

Let’s make sure the wonderful men and women in our military know they are appreciated. May God bless you for your generosity.
I was speaking with my son on my cell phone and didn’t pick up the incoming call. It’s Christmas Day, just before noon, and the gift wrap is neatly collected into a pile on the floor, our daughter is busy watching something on her new Notebook, and the visiting puppy was cuddled with me on the couch while my husband took a shower. A low key day overall. Then I listened to the voicemail message, letting me know how much the brave men and women of the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army enjoyed their Care Packages! It’s one thing to think about it as you sort each donation and pack each box, but it really is wonderful to know positively, from a first hand observer, that the Care Packages bring joy to our military. That message will keep me working right through 2014.
Thank you everyone, who helped get the Christmas shipment out this year. And my most sincere thanks, to our military men and women serving around the world, away from family and friends, keeping us safe and free. Please know that your service matters, and that you matter to those of us at home praying for you daily. May God keep you safe and bring you home safely when it is time.
If you are in Folsom, Oak Hills Church is serving dinner at 1pm in their lobby. Jake from Oak Hills stopped by our office on Thursday to extend the invitation to anyone we knew who didn’t have a place to eat. Oak Hills is a very friendly church, so if you would love a wonderful dinner with good people, give them a call to let them know you will be there. (916) 983-0181 is the number, if there are any questions seeing how close it is to the date, Jake said to give him a call (916) 801-9199.
Wednesday, December 25th, 1pm, Oak Hills Church, 1100 Blue Ravine Road, Folsom.
We have more than 750 requests from soldiers for Care Packages and we are short of being able to fill those requests. Items of greatest need are baby wipes (large refill containers as we bag them for distribution), jerky, gummy bears or worms (yes, these are requested frequently), instant oatmeal in packages, tuna or chicken salad in the foil packages, puzzle or word search books, playing cards, individual drink packets including instant coffee and Crystal Delight as well as individually wrapped tea bags. We also need monetary donations to pay for the shipping.
We are packing on Monday and Tuesday, December 9th & 10th at our temporary location of 241 Blue Ravine Road Suites 300 & 350, Folsom. Hopefully more donations will come in this weekend, and it will take us both days to pack and tape the Care Packages. Feel free to come by this weekend with donations and join us to pack Monday and Tuesday. It promises to be an inspiring time as we bless the items, fill the boxes with items and care, add specially requested items for each individual soldier, and tape the boxes and add a customs shipping label on top. Hours this weekend will be 10am to 5pm, with packing hours Monday and Tuesday from 9am to 9pm. Bless our soldiers this Christmas with a Care Package. Thank you so very much.
The Care Package requests keep coming in daily, and we keep praying for donations daily! We have over 700 requests so far but not yet enough items to fill all of those boxes or the money to pay the shipping fees of $14 per box. How can you help? So glad you asked!

Neighborhood donation drives are easy to do and a temendous help for our soldiers. It’s also an easy way for students to complete their community service hours. Take our flyer with the information on what we are doing and the items we need, add your contact information and telephone number if anyone has questions, as well as the date and time you will return to pick up their donations from their porch. Leave these on the doorsteps of your neighborhood a week before you plan to pick up donations. On the date you stated, take a driver with to be able to load the donations right into the car, and just walk the neighborhood and pick up whatever has been left out for you. My neighborhood has always been very generous. We are available to receive your donations at our temporary office location of 241 Blue Ravine Road in Folsom, Suite #350 on Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 9am and noon, or Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1-4pm. Questions? Call Denise (916) 505-2330.
Packing Days! We will actually be packing the Care Packages on Monday December 9th and Tuesday December 10th from 9am to 9pm. We will need assistance transporting the full shipment to the Post Office on Wednesday morning. Will you help? Please let us know by calling Denise (916) 505-2330.

The Boulevard Hair Salon (8703 Elk Grove Blvd, Elk Grove 916-714-0764) hosted a Haircut-a-thon on Sunday November 17th. Tina Fobroy and her wonderful ladies cut hair all day long and donated all of the money to Support 4 Soldiers. They also allowed us space for information tables in front of their salon where we passed out a lot of information, collected donations for the Care Packages, and even brought in some monetary donations. We hope to do this again. Thank you Tina and your wonderful family and stylists!
The Aerospace Museum of California (3200 Freedom Park Drive, McClellan 916-643-3192) hosted us Saturday, Sunday and Monday, November 9th – 11th with a wonderful area allowing us a full display of information, a sample Care Package so people could see what it is we are sending our soldiers, room for a “Don’t Tread on Me” flag for signatures, Christmas and Get Well cards for signature, and even a table for children to make Christmas cards and drawings. I was personally surprised how many families came by and really spent a lot of time signing cards, learning about what we do, collecting information on how to do a donation drive in their neighborhood, and other events that can help us send more Care Packages. The Museum volunteers were wonderful, the majority being veterans themselves. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say “hello” and see how you could help support our soldiers.
The Annual Folsom Veterans Day Parade was on Monday, November 11th, and Support 4 Soldiers was honored to be able to walk in the parade. Volunteers handed out American flags along the parade route to spectators, and beautiful carnations to veterans. Afterwards people could stop by our table at the Community Center to pick up information, sign some cards and a “Don’t Tread on Me” flag, and get information on how they can help us send more Care Packages. It was really a sight to see the ROTC who were at the beginning of the parade all lined up at our table signing cards and the flag. Folsom certainly supports the brave men and women of our military. We will be walking in the parade again next year, so mark your calendar for November 11th and plan to join us!
Romano’s Macaroni Grill (2739 East Bidwell, Folsom 916-984-9401) provided us with a fundraiser night Wednesday, November 13th from 4 – 10pm with 15% of the proceeds from everyone bringing in the flyer being donated to Support 4 Soldiers! It was a great night for the restaurant, and for us. Thank you to the great staff for the wonderful service and the opportunity to send more Care Packages! We will be doing this again, so watch for an upcoming date and enjoy a great meal out!

>DATE AND LOCATION CHANGE!! Monday and Tuesday, December 9th & 10th 9am – 9pm Packing days at our temporary office space in Folsom. This is when it all comes together, from taping the boxes, filling them with everything we have, adding the special requests that come in, and a number of Christmas cards and notes to the soldiers, then taping and adding the shipping labels. We are praying for 1000 packages to be done. We have the boxes and requests from soldiers, but need more items for the Care Packages and money to be able to send them. We need volunteers to help make this all happen.
Support 4 Soldiers office, 241 Blue Ravine, Suite #350, Folsom, CA
We are approaching our largest shipment of the year, hoping to more than double any Christmas shipment in our past with 1000 boxes! The brave men and women in our military deserve our support, through prayer and Care Packages. Now is the time to step up and participate to make this happen.
We are in urgent need of many of the Care Package items. Please consider coordinating a dnoation drive: in your neighborhood (our kids love doing these), a your local school, in your small group, with your workgroup, these are fun and easy. We have flyers you can print out that show what we need and why. Add the information as to when you will pick up the donations (for neightborhood or school drives) or where they should bring them (your office, small group meeting). Since most of our items are common household items, many families already have these or will happily purchase some things on the wish list.
So many other needs:
- Printing services – we have thousands of flyers jthat need to be printed before Veteran’s Day weekend. Can you print some for us or donate a printer?
- Host an event such as our Hair-Cut-a-Thon at The Boulevard Salon November 17th! The wonderful ladies will be cutting hair for donations from 9am- 6pm!
- We need donations of tables and chairs for our temporary office space. We use the tables for events as well as for sorting donations, and having card making and signing parties.
- Would you place a donation container for monetary donations are your place of business? We will need $14,000 just to cover the shipping cost of the Care Packages for Christmas.
Please consider how you can help us send encouragement to our military who are deployed overseas. They truly appreciate knowing that people at home care enough to do something about it.
Support 4 Soldiers has two shipments scheduled for the end of October and the end of November.
These shipments are in response to the requests from soldiers on our website.
